In mid-March, the students of DOORS UNLOCKED and their families came together for a beach clean-up along the shores of Ashiya.

While our studio usually focuses on helping students grow as dancers, this event was designed with a different purpose in mind—a chance to take a step back and connect with the community and nature around us.

We gathered in the morning, armed with trash bags and tongs, and worked together to clean the beach. From tiny bottle caps to large pieces of driftwood, we were surprised by how much waste we found. Still, the kids tackled the task with focus and determination. Parents, too, were all smiles as they watched their children in a new light—outside the studio, making a difference.

After the clean-up, we took a short break by the sea—soaking in the breeze and the sunshine. And of course, we wrapped up the day by heading back to the studio for a dance lesson! It turned out to be a truly fulfilling day that moved both our bodies and our hearts.

At DOORS UNLOCKED, we value not only dance technique, but also personal growth and connection with the world around us. We hope this experience sparked even a small awareness of the importance of caring for nature.
